Nagasaki Shinchi Chinatown, Nagasaki Overview
One of the three great Chinatowns of Japan, a compact cross of streets behind four ornamental gates. Champon and sara udon were both invented here, by a Chinese restaurateur feeding poor students, and they are the reason to come at lunchtime. In February the whole district carries fifteen thousand lanterns for the Lantern Festival.
