Sofuku-ji Temple, Nagasaki Overview

A 1629 Obaku Zen temple built by settlers from Fuzhou, with two National Treasures among its buildings and a vermilion Chinese gate quite unlike anything Japanese. Its huge cauldron was used to feed famine victims in 1681. Careful with the name: Nagasaki also has a Shofuku-ji and a Kofuku-ji, all three Chinese-founded and easily confused. 500 yen.
