Cheng Ho Cultural Museum, Melaka Overview

A must-visit for history buffs, Cheng Ho Cultural Museum is the largest museum in Malacca, located north of Melaka River. The museum features historical items, information, and details about Zheng He's (Cheng Ho) life and explorations, a Chinese Ming Dynasty admiral.

How to Reach Cheng Ho's Cultural Museum

History & Architecture

Cheng Ho is a prominent historical name in China's international relations. He led 7 explorations and sea voyages to the Indian Ocean, the Red Sea and the South China Sea in 1300s-1400s. He visited Maleka's port 5 times. It is believed that the museum is located on the very site where Cheng Ho had built a warehouse complex  (Guan Chang) around 600 years ago for storing his trading goods during his voyages.

Spanning a total floor area of 5,110 square metres, the museum has 8 units of old shop houses some of which were built before 1786. There's also a drum and a bell tower in front of the museum.
