South Coast Botanic Garden, Los Angeles Overview

Rich in plants from California, South Africa and Australia, the South Coast Botanic Garden is a landscaped recreational site with flowering fruit trees like Gingkoes, Redwood Pittosporum and exotic aquatic birds. Originally a landfill, the oceanfront estate in Los Angeles has been completely altered into a graceful diatomaceous garden with diverse species.

Consisting of themed beds of roses, herbs and frangipani lining the central man-made waterfall, the South Coast Botanic Garden is a gorgeous venue for weddings and parties. With Palos Verdes Hills in the background, guests can dine at the elaborate buffet and enjoy ceremonies at the spacious event center. Ideal for family outings and picnics, the koi pond is a delightful spot where you can feed the fish and waterfowl. You can carry your own food or grab quick bites at the small store at the entrance. It is also a great winter destination for watching birds who stop by here during annual migrations. True to its name, the Garden of Senses appeals to your smell, touch and houses numerous species of vibrant butterflies. Eminent members of the LA County Board who indulge in horticulture have flown all the way to Tokyo to gather authentic Asian seeds for developing the Japanese Garden.
