Zuma Beach, Los Angeles Overview

This is one of the largest and the cleanest beach located at Pacific Coast Highway in LA country, California. This clearwater beach gets its name from the nearby Point Dume which was named by George Vancouver in the honour of Padre Francisco Dumetz and was misspelt on his map as “Dume”, never to get corrected. People commute to this beach directly from the PHC, or the Malibu-Canyon Road and the Kanan-Dume Road. This place is famous for its beach volleyball courts and seasonal food stands.

People come here for bodyboarding, bodysurfing, kiteboarding, surfing and swimming as well. Zuma beach hosts many surfing events, both, friendly and competitive, throughout the year. There are fourteen lifeguard stations along the stretch of the beach with lifeguards on duty round the clock. The best time to visit is during the annual Malibu Nautica Triathlon, which includes swimming, cycling and running along the stretches of the beach where many Hollywood celebrities and retired Olympic professionals compete for the noble cause of fundraising for the children’s hospital.
