Abalone Cove Beach, Los Angeles Overview

The Abalone Cove Shoreline Park is a coastal nature reserve on the Palos Verdes peninsula in Los Angeles. The Abalone Cove Park has two beaches namely the Abalone Cove and Sacred Cove, tidepools, bluff-top viewing area, and Trails Crisscrossing the area. The entry in the park is free for the first thirty minutes and then it is charged on a timely basis. The clean beaches and the hiking trails comprise a major part of the park. There are picnic tables spread out over the entire area. Lifeguards and restrooms can be found at frequent intervals.

The place is full of tide pools and marine life and forms dramatic backdrops to many photographs. The place offers some activities for people ranging from simply relaxing on the beach and sunbathing to being adventurous and swimming across the channels to get to the sea caves. The ideal time to visit is during the low tide when the sea is at calm so one can see all the sea caves and the do some rock climbing. The trail is around 2.3 km long and the total area is around 64 acres making it a secluded spot for everyone. The locals and tourists definitely enjoy the solitude offered by the place alike.
