Akashi Kaikyo Bridge, Kobe Overview
A suspension bridge with a main span just under two kilometres, carrying the road out to Awaji Island. It held the world record from 1998 until Turkey's Canakkale bridge passed it in 2022, so guides still calling it the longest are wrong, though it remains the longest in Japan. The way to experience it is the Maiko Marine Promenade, slung under the deck fifty metres up.
