Ikuta Shrine, Kobe Overview
A shrine founded in the third century by Empress Jingu, possibly among the oldest in Japan, now sitting in the middle of Sannomiya's shopping and nightlife with a pocket of old forest behind it. Free, and five minutes from the station, which makes it the easiest old-Japan stop to slot into a day. The site is ancient; the buildings are post-1995 reconstructions.
