Arima Onsen, Kobe Overview
One of Japan's three oldest hot springs, named in the Pillow Book and the most prestigious of the Edo period, and it sits inside Kobe city limits. The gold water is opaque and iron-brown rather than clear, which surprises people. Watch the closing days: Kin no Yu shuts on the second and fourth Tuesday, Gin no Yu on the first and third, so one is always shut on a Tuesday.
