Meriken Park, Kobe Overview
The waterfront park around the Port Tower, and the reason to walk to its eastern edge is sobering: a stretch of quay has been left exactly as the 1995 Great Hanshin earthquake broke it, tilted lampposts and buckled concrete and all. It is free, outdoors and always open. Note this is the memorial quay, not the earthquake museum, which is four kilometres east.
