Hirakawa Zoo, Kagoshima Overview
A municipal zoo on a hillside south of the city holding the largest koala collection in Japan, alongside red pandas, Humboldt penguins and species native to Kagoshima. Sakurajima stands in the view from several of the enclosures. Note the zoo's own pricing of 750 to 1,000 yen rather than the 500 some guides quote.
