Sengan-en, Kagoshima Overview
A Shimazu clan garden of 1658 laid out so that Sakurajima becomes the centrepiece of the view and the bay reads as its pond, which is borrowed scenery at the largest scale attempted anywhere in Japan. Alongside it stand the UNESCO-listed Shuseikan industrial works. Two updates: admission is 1,600 yen, and Senganen Station opened in March 2025, cutting the trip from Kagoshima-Chuo to 8 minutes and 240 yen against the 50 minute bus guides still recommend.
