Shastri Circle

One of the major activities that draw people to Shastri Circle in Jodhpur is Shopping. There are retail and wholesale shops in the area to suit every shopper’s budget. There are branded and local stores selling clothing, jewellery, gadgets, electronics etc. Some branded vehicle showrooms are also located in this part of the city. Those looking for a mall can head to the Ashapurna Mall. Shastri Circle has a park named Shastri Park nearby which is best visited on a free evening for the circle is lit in bright colours and the fountains add to its charm. There are musical fountain shows every evening. Passers-by can park their vehicles nearby and visit the circle to enjoy the magnificent attraction.

Shastri circle is also famous for food, especially street food. Several eating joints near the circle are frequently visited by foodies for Samosas, Chaats, Pulao, Kachoris, Jodhpuri Sweets, Kulfis etc. Ankur Restaurants, Welcome Sweets, Krishna Softy, The Rolling Stove, Madrasi Dosa, Pankaj Bar-Be-Que Island, Punjabi Masala Tikka, Garib Nawaz Dhaba, Chaat Bhandar, Shekhawati Ice Cream, Somani Paav Bhaji, Aunty’s Pizza are some restaurants/ eateries located very close to Shastri Circle. There are also 4-5-star hotels in the region around the circle where tourists can choose to dine. Tourists can also stay at one of the top-class hotels like Fairfield by Marriott, Park Plaza Jodhpur, Fern Residency, Taj Hari Mahal Jodhpur etc.  

 There are other attractions located near Shastri Circle that tourists can explore. For example, Umaid Bhavan Palace (6.9 kilometres away from the circle), Mehrangarh Fort (5.5 kilometres away), Jaswant Thada (7 kilometres away), Ghanta Ghar (5.4 kilometres away), Toorji Ka Jhalra (6 kilometres away) and Kaylana Lake (about 8 kilometres away). Other than these, tourists can also get to experience the developed areas of the city around Shastri Circle, like Shastri Nagar, Residency Road, the Industrial area, Pal Road, ITI Road etc. You can walk around or rent a cab to explore these areas and get to see the Jodhpur of the present.

Shastri Circle is located on Shastri Nagar Road, near Saint Paul’s Senior Secondary School in Jodhpur. It is barely 3.3 kilometres from the city centre, 7.5 kilometres from Jodhpur Bus Station in Paota, 3.9 kilometres from Jodhpur Railway Junction and the Airport is 6.5 kilometres away. Public transport makes commuting within the city very convenient. Taxis or auto rickshaws can be hired. Local bus connectivity to this part of the city is also quite decent. Driving privately owned vehicles or rented vehicle is also a good option for the city roads that lead to the attraction are quite well-maintained.
There are three routes that lead to Shastri Circle from the bus station – The NH 62 – Mathura Das Mathur Route, the High Court Road – Chopasni Road Route and the Pal Road – ITI Road Route. From the railway station, travellers can take the Harish Joshi Marg and Mathura Das Mathur Hospital Road. To reach the attraction from the airport, they would have to follow the route via Civil Airport Road – Residency Road – NH 62 - Mathura Das Mathur Hospital Road – Shastri Nagar Road.
