Marwar, was founded by Raja Rao, in the year 1459. He was the chief of the Rathore tribe of Rajputs. This festival specifically is a celebration dedicated to all of the Rajput heroes, as they stood for an important quality in the battlefields, bravery. However, this festival now stands for much more. The Marwar Festival showcases the amazing talent that Marwar has, what with the numerous folk musicians and dancers residing in it.
