Agonda Beach, Goa Overview

If you're looking for a place away from the hustle bustle of the crowd with more space and solitude, Agonda beach is the right place for you. With the clear blue water and coconut trees, this beach is a delight for nature lovers. The beach is not very popular among tourists and hence relatively quiet and less crowded. Located in the picturesque village of Agonda in the state of Goa, this palm-fringed beach is also extremely popular as a nesting ground for olive ridley sea turtles. Unlike the famous Baga Beach and Calangute Beach, Agonda is one of those beaches where you can venture out for a leisurely walk along the beautiful coast.

The Agonda beach becomes a little dangerous at high tide hours, and surfing is a high-risk situation. This beach is not recommended for swimming due to the high-risk factor associated with it. It shelves steeply during high tide, hence the surf can be quite rough as well. Nevertheless, it is the ideal place to enjoy the romantic side of Goa. It is also a great spot for sunbathing and relaxing due to the presence of very few tourists. The beautiful long pristine stretch of this beach is an excellent choice for peace lovers and travellers who are in search of some tranquillity. Even, at this beach, it is difficult to find proper network connection for most of the prepaid sim cards; making it even more peaceful than ever.

If you get bored by the serenity of this place, then you can also head to Palolem Beach from here, which is just a 15-minute ride from here. It is the primary hub of parties in Goa and is host to some of the most happening beach parties. Agonda, on the other hand, has a more quiet, hassle-free and cheaper facilities. There are no hawkers allowed on the beach, as the villagers want Agonda to stay untouched and away from the effect of commercialisation.

Many tourists visit this beach at night to witness the turtles as this beach is their nesting ground.
