Best Time To Visit Fethiye

Late May is when the sea finally becomes swimmable, reaching about twenty degrees, and the rain has all but stopped.

June is the better half of the pair. The air sits near thirty-two, the sea is close to twenty-four, and the July crowds have not arrived.

July and August are the driest months of the year, with almost no rain at all across the two of them.

The heat is the problem, and it is the daily norm rather than a spike. Both months average above thirty-five degrees, so plan around early mornings and the water. Kas along the coast runs two to three degrees cooler in August.

November is the turn of the season. Rain returns properly and the sea falls to about twenty-one degrees, which is the end of comfortable swimming.

Beach businesses wind down through the month. Check what is actually open at Oludeniz before booking, rather than assuming a full season.

December is the wettest month of the year, with January close behind. Those two plus February carry most of Fethiye's annual rainfall.

The sea bottoms out near sixteen degrees in February and much of the resort infrastructure is shut. This is the window to skip. Marmaris is wetter still in winter.

March and April dry out and warm up on land, reaching the high teens and low twenties, which is comfortable for the ruins and the coastal walking.

The sea has not caught up. April's water is still about seventeen degrees, so April is a walking month rather than a beach one, whatever the air temperature suggests.

Fethiye's sea temperature lags the air by roughly two months, and that changes which months are worth booking. October's water is marginally warmer than June's, even though October's air is five degrees cooler.

So for a swimming trip, October beats May outright and matches June. May's sea reaches only twenty degrees against October's twenty-four, which is the opposite of what an air-temperature chart implies.
