Marian Shrine of the Lady of Tra Kieu is an ancient church in the peaceful citadel Tra Kieu which was formerly called as Simhapura meaning the 'Lion Citadel'. The construction of this shrine dates back to the 19th century and is shrouded with the tales of miracle and magic. The church is an interesting site displaying myriads of Cham sculptures and artefacts in its museum named Van Hoa Cham.
Although Catholicism is not a dominant religion in Vietnam, it is still accepted and practised by many. The shrine at Tra Kieu is a reminder of the varied cultures offered by the country.
