Da Nang Cathedral, Da Nang Overview

Danang Cathedral, also known as Con Ga Church (Rooster Church), is a pink-colored edifice built by French priest Louis Vallet in 1923. It is known as the Con Ga Church after a rooster that tops its bell tower. It is 70 meters in height, making it one of the great architectural marvels in Da nang.

The church displays simple Gothic-style architecture with tinted glass windows, inscribed motifs, and a medieval-style rhombic dome. More than 4,000 parishioners belonging to the Catholic community come to pray here. The church also holds a Blessed Virgin Mary Grotto, almost identical to the Lourdes Grotto in France. It also has huge stained glass windows replicating the Bible's scenes. Being located close to the Dragon Bridge, it is among the most popular tourist attractions in Da Nang. Located on Tran Phu Street in Da Nang, the Da Nang Cathedral is the only church in Da Nang that was built during the French Colonial Rule in Vietnam.
