Kandy to Colombo

Plenty of multiple trains ply from Kandy /Peradeniya Railway Station to the capital Colombo. Book your tickets well in advance. You can also get tickets at the station a day or two before your travel. 

You could hire a personal car or even take a cab here. Private and sharing cabs are standard modes of travel from Kandy to Colombo. You could either get cabs for Colombo on Kandy road near Kandy railway station or contact any nearby local travel agencies. The hotel reception can also guide you regarding the transport facilities. 

Route 1: Via Kandy Road
This is the fastest route, covering 121 kilometres in roughly 3 hours.

Route 2: Via Veyagoda
This is another popular route. The course would pass Veyagoda, which is a trendy destination. Visitors can get off here and spend some time sightseeing. This route is 126 kilometres long and takes around 3 hours to complete.

By Bus: 

There are both government and private buses (a/c and non a/c) plying from Kandy to Colombo. Although pre-booking service is not available, you could easily access buses at the nearest bus stop on Kandy road.

This 116.2-kilometre stretch would take approximately 3.5 to 4 hours to cover.
