Located in the busy and crowded city of Colombo is the beautiful Viharamahadevi Park. This gorgeous park is located quite close to the National Museum and is one of the biggest and oldest parks of Sri Lanka. The park also offers breathtaking views of sunrise and sunset for a truly memorable experience. The Viharamahadevi Park was initially known as the Victoria Park and was renamed after the mother of King Dutugemunu.
The recent renovations to the Viharamahadevi Park have transformed the structure and have made it into a gem of Colombo. The beauty of Viharamahadevi Park is highlighted with a huge Buddha statue, which is accompanied by many water fountains, which give the place a sense of calm and serenity.
One will also find a mini zoo and a children’s play area. A park is a family place, with many families on a picnic in the nearby garden and couples spending some quality time in the park. Further, there is also an open stadium which is used for several events and even concerts. There are plenty of food stalls nearby which serve snacks and tasty treats.
