Established in 1928 by Dutch scholars, the library's collection of books include those on homoeopathy and black magic. Gedong Kirtya Museum is especially known for the dried palm leaf manuscripts, or ' lontar', that are kept as part of their exhibition. Books, in the form of words inscribed into copper plates, alongside early 18th-century Dutch publications can also be found at the library.
