Aling Aling Waterfall, Bali Overview

Aling Aling Waterfall is located in Kabupaten Buleleng Regency of Bali, Indonesia. It is one of the most stunning waterfalls of Bali which falls from a height of 98 feet. Known as the adventure heaven, Aling Aling Waterfall can provide you with opportunities of cliff jumping and natural slides. Know that it is one of those few places in Bali where you can attempt jumping into the deep waters.

Descending the edges of the valley, you will also find a viewpoint of Aling Aling from an aerial perspective. You can also go for canyoning with the help of a local guide or walk down the slippery staircase to experience the thundering sound of the waterfall. The Aling Aling Waterfall is a sacred waterfall for the Balinese people; hence, you are not allowed to go swimming. However, remember that if you are not here for an organised tour, you can get a guide for a fixed price as it is mandatory during your visit.

1. Trekking

The route followed during the trek is beautiful, and your guide will make sure to tell you about flora and fauna of the place. It will not only be an adventurous but also a conscious experience. You can interact with the village people or enjoy the breathtaking view of the waterfall.

2. Cliff-jumping
Aling Aling Waterfall is known for the cliff-jumping opportunity. You can do this activity at your own risk. However, it is recommended to get a guide for assistance before you decide to execute it.

3. Sambangan Secret Garden
It is located 0.4 kilometres away from Aling Aling Waterfall. It is a great place to enjoy the undisturbed nature at its best and hence, it is called the Secret Garden.

5. Other waterfalls
Located within a distance of 0.2 to 0.4 kilometres, you will find other waterfalls near Aling Aling. Sambangan Waterfall, Kembar Waterfall, and Kroya Waterfall are the three significant waterfalls which are an extension of Aling Aling Waterfall.

Best Time to Visit

The visit to Aling Aling Waterfall depends on the reason for your visit. If you want to visit the waterfall when it is at its best, the wet season, i.e., from October to April is a perfect time. Water is full in the waterfall and is the most picturesque during these months. For cliff-jumping, May to September is the best time since these are the dry months, and the waterfall flow is less intense.

Tips

  • Swimming in the waterfall is not allowed. You can be fined IDR 250,000 if caught violating the rules.
  • Make sure to apply waterproof sunscreen as the sun in Bali can be scorching.
  • Lifejackets are recommended even if you are a strong swimmer.
  • Children or adults with health problems are suggested not to opt for cliff-jumping.
  • One can trek through the falls without cliff-jumping, but getting a trained guide for the tour is highly recommended.

The Aling Aling Waterfall is located near the Sambangan village which is eight kilometres south of Bali’s largest town, Singaraja. Travellers usually opt for a private car or join a private tour as public transport is minimal, and it is risky for beginners to take a drive to the waterfalls.
