Wargal Saraswati Temple, Secunderabad Overview

Wargal Saraswati temple, otherwise called as Sri Vidya Saraswati Temple, is located in a hillock in Siddipet district in Telangana, India. The construction of the temple began in 1998 and is currently being maintained by Kanchi Shankar Matt. The main goddess is Saraswati and the temple attracts many families from the district and all over the country who pray for their children’s education and career. The temple also houses a Veda paatshala within its premises. There are also other temples devoted to different deities on the same hill.

Religious Significance of Wargal Saraswati Temple

The temple is located on a hill near the Wargal village in Telangana. The main goddess is Saraswati and it is also one of the few Sarawati temples in the state. It is one among the other temples located on the same hill. Most people visit the temple for the beautiful darshan of Goddess Sarawati and to pray for good knowledge and education. The most auspicious day for Sarawati is during the Navaratri mula nakshatram during which people from different parts of the city visit the temple to seek blessings. Archana, Arthi and Abhishekam are the regular rituals done in the temple on a daily basis. Also, a veda paatshala is located within the temple where students learn and recite vedas.

The temple radiates peace and composure. Rituals are performed with such devotion everyday and the vedas chanted by the children in the veda paatshala within the temple gives positive vibes. It is a very calming place to visit where one can let down their burden and pray for harmony and success.

Rituals Performed at the Temple

Aksharabyasam is a ritual during which children are initially taught to read and write. The timing for this is between 8:30 AM to  6:00 PM every day. Arathi, Abhishegam and Archana are performed for the Lord with utmost divinity. In a big hall within the temple, around 100 people are served with free food every day. On every Shani Trayodashi, Shani pooja is performed to the respective lord. After the Ganapati pooja and Homam, the pooja for Lord Shani begins with a Taila Abhishegam. The temple grandly celebrates the festival of Dusshera during which many devotees visit the temple to seek blessings.

Architecture of Wargal Saraswati Temple

Astrologer and Vastu expert, Yayavaram Chandrashekhara Sharma had put in immense efforts in the construction of the temple.  The process for building the temple was started by a group who were called as Satya patam Seva samethi. They began to look for a place to build the temple in the year 1998. In due time, they selected this hillock where the ancient Shambu Deva temple was located. More than one crore rupees was spent on building this divine temple.

Dress Code at the Temple

Women are expected to wear salwar, saree or any decent clothing apart from jeans. Men are expected to wear veshti or pants.

Best Time to Visit the Temple

The climate at Telangana is generally delightful from October to December. There is not much rain, but the weather remains windy and cloudy throughout. Visiting the temple during these months would visit, travel to the nearby places of visit and the journey delightful.

The temple is located about 2 kilometers from Warangal. It is around 67 kilometers from Telangana. Local buses, autos and cabs can be used to commute to the temple. The nearest airport is in Secunderabad which is 47 kilometers from the temple. The closest railway station is 46 kilometers away. Frequent bus, taxi and auto facilities are available to reach the temple. Also, one can arrange for private vehicles for commuting.
