Safilguda Lake, Secunderabad, Secunderabad Overview

The Safilguda Lake, which is located in the district of Old Neredmet, is a favourite spot among residents of the nearby areas for morning walks, jogging, meditation, etc. There is also a small island in the middle of the lake, called the Nadimi Bird Island which is covered with thick timber that attracts many migratory birds. There is also a park adjacent to the lake known as the Safilguda Lake Park. Apart from that, the kids also love visiting the lake as it also has a play area in the Safilguda Lake Park. The boundary of the lake is similar to that of the famous Tank Bund of Secunderabad, so it is also popularly known as the Mini tank Bund.

Inaugurated in 2000, the lake has always been the perfect destination for those visitors of Secunderabad who are fond of lush greenery and serenity. Despite the area of only 5 acres, the lake has a rich biodiversity, high vegetation and many migratory birds visiting it throughout the year. It is particularly famous among bird watchers and nature enthusiasts. The lake and its surroundings are also rich in flora and fauna which attracts many visitors from the country. History of Safilguda Lake

The Safilguda Lake was restored in the year 2000 by Hyderabad Urban Development Authority through the Restoration and Conservation Project of Green Hyderabad Environment Programme. After that, it has become a favourite spot among the residents of nearby areas.

In summer, the water level of the lake comes down; thus, the ideal time to visit the Safilguda Lake is between September and January for an unforgettable experience. The perfect time for bird watching is in the morning, preferably from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM.

The Lake is located in the district of Old Neredmet on the Malkajgiri-Neredmet Road in Sairam Nagar. Located just at a distance of 6 kilometres from the main city of Secunderabad, the lake can be accessed through cabs or trains from the city. The nearby railway station is the Secunderabad Railway Station which is at a distance of approximately 7 kilometres from the Safilguda Lake.
