The beautiful Mirabell gardens are ideal to have a relaxed evening at. The baroqueness of the Mirabell palace gives it the cultural importance in Salzburg.
Mirabell - derived from the words mirabile ïadmirableï and bella ïbeautifulï, holds true to its name. The palace was built by Prince-Archbishop Wolf Dietrich to portray his love to his mistress Salome Alt. The palace was rebuilt in the famous Austrian baroque style in 1721. Sound of Music fans will be able to spot that Maria and the children sing 'Do-Re-Mi' at the Mirabell Garden while dancing around the lovely Pegasus fountains. Apart from being wildly famous for being a part of Sound of Music, the Mirabell Palace and Garden are now renowned to be one of the most beautiful wedding location in the world. The Mirabell Gardens are a beautiful stretch of flowers and sculptures, and you might want to find a bench and sit down for a while to admire everything it has to offer.
