Getreidegasse, Salzburg Overview

Getriedegasse is the most famous street of Salzburg. This busy Shopping street has also been a UNESCO world Heritage Site since 1996. From top fashion brands to charming cafes and cozy inns, the street also features artworks, and art galleries and provides a serene view.

Largely famous for the residence of the " Hagenauer House" that is the birthplace of the greatest composer of all times Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The Getriedegasse is also famous for its wrought iron signs which are centuries old which contain signs of shops and much more. Though houses are very typical of the Salzburg historical district, they are adorned with dates, symbols or the name of the owners, so they offer traces of history. The architecture is worth noticing with Middle age windows and main doors. This street also houses some of the porch and exclusive international fashion chains like Louis Vuitton, Prada, Gucci. Its name has evolved from Tragasse to Traidgasse. Also, a famous attraction is the " puppet women" who with her brown basket has been selling puppets since 1987. So, it's not only famous as a shopping street but has a cultural and historic relevance and must be visited to witness the charming old houses ,pretty portals and wonderful courtyard.
