History

Peregrine Wines has been producing top-quality wine since 1998, when it was first set up by the McLachan family. Aiming to bring out the best of flavours in Central Otago, the founders bring their own handmade touch to their selection of wines.

Even though they are best known for their Pinot Noir, they offer a variety of other premium, aromatic white wines such as Pinot Gris, Riesling, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Rose and Methode Traditionelle. The close-knit group of winemakers at the winery are almost like a family, and aim at giving the best experience to their clients.

Wine tasting – The winery offers wine tasting opportunities at its Cellar, with its experts to guide you through the process. They are known for their Pinot (Noir and Gris), which you should not miss out on!

How To Reach Peregrine Wines

Peregrine Wines are located in the Gibbston Region of Central Otago near Queenstown, deep inside the South Island of New Zealand. It is surrounded by snow-capped mountains most of the year, and is in the midst of sprawling vineyards.

Situated at a 25-minute drive from the busy city of Queenstown, and a 15-minute drive from Arrowtown – this winery is the perfect quiet retreat away from the crowds. There are several ways by which you can get to Peregrine Wines:

  • Bus – This is the cheapest way to get to Peregrine Wines, although it might not be the most convenient. The closest bus stop for the public bus network of Queenstown is McChesney Road, which is 880 meters, or a 12 minute walk away. The bus line 2 operates on this route.

  • Car – It is only a 25 minute drive away from Central Queenstown, and is a beautiful drive which passes vineyards and mountains. There is also plenty of parking space available at the winery itself.

  • Taxi – There are plenty of taxi services which operate on this route. Uber is also easily available and popular in the city of Queenstown, and will cost you around NZD 70 to NZD 90 approximately.
