Zapurza Museum of Art & Culture, Pune Overview

Zapurza Museum of Art & Culture is located in Kudje village, about 25 km from Pune, Maharashtra, and was opened to the public in May 2022. Inaugurated by flautist Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, the museum showcases a diverse collection of Maharashtrian heirlooms, Indian artworks, and historic artifacts. It represents the personal collection of Ajit Gadgil, a sixth-generation Pune-based jeweller who spent over 25 years preserving jewelry, Paithani sarees, paintings, sculptures, textiles, and everyday objects of cultural value.

Set against the scenic backdrop of Khadakwasla Lake and Sinhagad Fort, the museum spans 7.5–8 acres and was designed by architect Shirish Beri in collaboration with Dilip Joshi. The architecture emphasizes warmth and accessibility, with earthy tones and traditional materials like stone masonry and terracotta tiles. The campus houses ten galleries, a 195-seat auditorium, a lakeside amphitheatre, studios, and a café — offering a welcoming cultural space that blends heritage, art, and natural beauty.
