Lackawanna state park, New York City Overview

The Lackawanna State Park covers 1,445-acres and is located in northeastern Pennsylvania, ten miles north of Scranton. The main attraction of the park is the 198-acre Lackawanna Lake which is surrounded by multiple picnic areas and different trails that lead through the forest. Some of the activities are boating, camping, fishing, mountain biking, and swimming which are amongst the popular recreation activities at the park. The park is open all day throughout the year from sunrise to sunset. Most of the activities that are done during the day close at sunset.

The park office is open for queries and assistance during the day. The park also offers environmental education programs that provide services to schools, communities, and park visitors. Some of the educational programs include:

• Resource services

• Community programs


The park's campsites offer various types of tents and trailers for visitors, there is an overall of 61 campsites at the park, the park offers state of the art washrooms for visitors by providing hot showers and hygienic restrooms, as well as a sanitary dump station. 

The camping season generally starts from the second week in April until the third week in October as the weather is perfect for camping. The park also offers hunters, horseback riders, hikers, and mountain bike riders along a 15-mile trail to explore at Lackawanna State Park.
