Black Star Canyon Falls, Los Angeles Overview

Black Star Canyon Falls is one of Orange County’s most elusive waterfalls with a scenic hiking trail lined with mature oaks and floral bushes. Flanked with serene bridges for birdwatching, this waterfall is unlike any other in Southern California since it has both a natural and a man-made outlet. The surrounding valley and canyon park boasts of tropical and semi-arid plantation beds along the plunging Black Star Creek.

Black Star Canyon Falls and Trail is also an important archaeological site with a great deal of American war history. There are plenty of picnic spots dappled in shade apart from the main dirt rock with large boulders from the canyon. This creates the perfect terrain for rock climbing and mountain biking. While some parts of the partially-paved hike up to the Black Star Canyon Falls is suited for pros for its difficulty level, the first few miles are walkable with beautifully designed seating areas. Nestled amidst wildflower groves are some shallow and safe caves which you can crawl into! Hikers and tourists often visit the falls just before it gets dark to enjoy the panoramic skyline views and sunset. You can also bring your furry friends to hike and splash into the stream.
