Reigando Cave, Kumamoto Overview
The cave west of the city where Miyamoto Musashi spent his last years and wrote The Book of Five Rings. The approach passes several hundred moss-covered rakan statues carved in the eighteenth century, most of them missing heads or hands. Musashi is a name a lot of visitors already know from novels and games, and this is the actual place. Pair it with the Shimada Museum, which holds his swords.
