Day Trip to Mount Aso, Kumamoto Overview
The largest volcanic caldera in the world, 25 km across, with a whole landscape of towns, farms and railways living inside it. Before you plan around the crater: the alert sits at level 2 and entry within roughly 1 km of Nakadake is prohibited, so the rim is closed. Everything else works.
