Kumamoto City Zoo and Botanical Gardens, Kumamoto Overview
A combined municipal zoo and botanical garden on the shore of Lake Ezu, rebuilt and reopened in stages after the 2016 earthquakes. Roughly 120 species alongside glasshouses and seasonal flower beds, at 500 yen. It is the one entry on this list aimed squarely at families rather than at history, and the lake path outside is free and pleasant on its own.
