Kuala Lumpur Orchid Garden, Kuala Lumpur Overview

Situated opposite the KL Lake Gardens, the Kuala Lumpur Orchid Garden boasts about 800 species of orchids. While the orchid garden occupies an area of just one hectare, it houses about six thousand orchids which is a true sight to behold. The Kuala Lumpur Orchid Garden also houses exotic species of flowers which are quite rare to find.

The Kuala Lumpur Orchid Garden has two main varieties of orchids namely Terrestrial Orchids and Epiphytic Orchids. It is interesting to note that the Epiphytic Orchids feed on dead plant matter. Further, they absorb the moisture from the host’s crannies and nooks. This variety of orchids is mostly found in Malaysia since the country experiences tropical climatic conditions. On the other hand, the Terrestrial Orchids are rooted in soil. There are also several orchids blooming with vivid colours, unique shapes and intricate patterns which accentuate the beauty of the Kuala Lumpur Orchid Garden.
