Kitano-cho Ijinkan District, Kobe Overview
The hillside where Kobe's foreign merchants built after the port opened in 1868, and the reason the city looks unlike anywhere else in Japan. A dozen or so of the old Western houses are open to visitors. Each is ticketed separately at around 550 to 880 yen, which adds up fast, so buy one of the combination tickets if you plan to see more than two.
