Khajjiar Lake is placed in Khajjiar, Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh. Situated at a height of around 1,920 m above sea level between Dalhousie and Chamba Town, it is located in a huge grassy landscape, with evergreen cedar trees surrounding it from all sides. The lake takes its name from Khajji Nag, the established deity in the temple nearby. The lake has considerably shrunk over the years and is now almost on the verge of extinction.

Kailash Parbat or Mount Kailash, part of the Kailash Range, is a 6,638m sacred mountain located in China’s Tibet Autonomous Region. While visiting it requires completing a complicated procedure, the massive snow-clad peak is visible from a few locations in India, specifically in Himachal Pradesh, including Khajjiar Ground and Dainkund Peak. On a clear day, the open Khajjiar Ground (Chamba) provides an exceptional peak view, better through binoculars. On the other hand, a trek up Dainkund Peak (in Dalhousie), which is about 2 hours long, will offer majestic views of Kailash Parbat along with the surrounding snow-covered Pir Panjal ranges.
