Sea World Ancol, Jakarta Overview

Sea World Ancol, also known as Sea World Jakarta, is a marine aquarium that comprises 1 Main Tank, 1 Shark Tank, and several small tanks. The Main Tank is the biggest aquarium in South East Asia. There are 28 displays divided into 9 freshwater aquariums and 19 aquariums and 4 open ponds. It also has feeding shows and a touch pool.

In Seaworld Ancol, there are many diverse marine animals like giant crabs, jellyfish, manatees and many more. This place is absolutely perfect for families for a weekend getaway. Located at Jaya Ancol National Park, it offers 24 large tanks containing diverse sea animals and an exciting underwater tunnel. To make the experience even better, they also offer special shows for shark-feeding.

Things to Do

Each of the tanks or display aquariums at Sea World Ancol, have its own special theme. They are also equipped with labels describing the biota in a unique way. Sea World Ancol also hosts various kinds of events to entertain as well as educate the visitors. The feeding show in the main aquarium is a popular event.

There is a touch pool where visitors can interact with marine life. Other popular offerings of Sea World Ancol are Sharquarium, Antasena Tunnel, Freshwater Area, Deep Sea Area and Ecosystem Tank. The Antasena Tunnel is an 80m long tunnel in the Main Tank with a transparent roof. Visitors can get the full experience of being underwater without actually getting into the water.

Sea World Ancol also hosts a special show, called Empire of the Sea, on the eve of New Year’s.

Tips

Flash photography is prohibited on the premises of Sea World Ancol.
Touching of the aquarium glass is not allowed near certain tanks.
Visitors are advised to be wary of all the rules and to follow them.
It is also recommended to carry your own tissue paper as the toilets over here do not provide it.

How To Reach Seaworld Ancol

Sea World Ancol is located inside the Ancol Dream Land complex in the Ancol Bay City area. It can be easily reached by the TransJakarta busway, a motorcycle or a car.
Visitors who opt to commute by train can get down at the Ancol Station.
Ancol Dreamland in itself is also very huge and Commute within its premises usually includes rickshaws.
The latest transportation alternative in this region is the gondola, a skylift cable car.
A gondola also offers a beautiful view of the sea and the city.
