A simple google search would tell you that the Pink City does justice to its name. The city is as pink as it gets and combine that with hues of the sky, you have the photographer?s dream materialise (Read More)in front of you. If just the colours and grandiosity of these structures do not catch your eye, the stories that these buildings have to tell, definitely will. Placed at the heart of the city, the City Palace still serves as a royal residence; the Jantar Mantar, which served as a royal observatory, can put the sky itself to shame; the Hawa Mahal, with the colourful and chaotic bazaar below, stands tall like the glorious structure it is. Other places to visit are Albert Hall Museum, Rambagh Palace, Jal Mahal, Nahargarh Fort and Jaigarh Fort. If you?re feeling a little more touristy, you can always go down to neighbouring city of Jaiselmer. Rajasthani cuisine has something for all kinds of palate- from extremely sweet to extremely spicy. It is always better to go for authentic local food but if that does not agree with you, the capital would also give you the choice to eat foods from international cuisines. You must visit Chokhi Dhani which is an open-air restaurant that offers a typical rural Rajasthani experience complete with traditional entertainment, snack stalls, merry-go-roynds, camel rides and of course a proper sit-down Rajasthani meal. Look out for the servers because their enthusiasm will force you to eat way more than you intend to (you will not regret it, not until the next morning at least). If you are guilty of being a shopaholic, Jaipur would be your paradise. People from all over the world come to Jaipur to shop for gems, crafts and other artefacts. If your shopping bags are overflowing, the shopkeeper might even arrange for it to be delivered to you (yes, people are nice here).
