Museum of Fine Arts, Houston Overview

The Museum of Fine Arts happens to be oldest art museum in the state and one of the biggest in the United States. It is situated in the Houston Museum District and houses an extensive collection of art work (over 70,000 pieces) coming from six continents and dating between the antiquity period and the present.

This collection includes Italian Renaissance paintings, Latin American art, decorative art from America and Europe, African- American art, Texas paintings and so much more. Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens as well as Rienzi, located in the River Oaks neighbourhood, are popular museums associated with the Museum of Fine Arts and feature American furnishings, ceramics, silver, paintings, European decorative arts and more. While at the museum, the MFA Café, the MFA Shop and the Cottage Shop at Bayou Bend are a must-visit.
