Kanatte General Cemetery, Colombo Overview
Locally called Borella Cemetery, Kanatte General Cemetery is Colombo's main burial ground and crematorium since 1866. With over 120,000 graves, the hauntingly beautiful cemetery is the final resting place of the sci-fi legend Sir Arthur C. Clarke and Commonwealth war heroes. There are 360 War Graves, including those of a German soldier, a German merchant seaman, a German interned civilian, and an Austrian nursing sister and a War Cross are erected.
