Melasti Beach, Bali Overview

A recently discovered gem of Bali, Melasti beach is a picturesque attraction located in Ungasan. Flanked by limestone cliffs, the white sands and clear blue waters are ideal for swimming and sunbathing. Best when visited during low tide, when small pools are formed between rocks and little fish can be seen swimming around.

A relatively new and unpopulated beach, Melasti offers a more secluded and softer beach experience as compared to the boisterous nature of beaches like Kuta. Three main parts of the beach are- east, middle, and west. Here the east part has a wonderful limestone cape and hill, whereas the west part will offer one with some of the most mind-blowing views of the sunset. The middle part of the beach is mostly frequented for use of the swimming pools.

Head over to the High Cliff:

Melasti Beach has resulted in the formation of several tiny natural pools which are safe for a swim and if one is lucky, one may also come across a school of fish to keep you company!

Melasti Beach Waterfall:
Towards the end of the beach is a beautiful little waterfall. This seasonal waterfall makes for an amazing sight to click some perfect pictures, and who doesn’t love a waterfall?

Best Time to Visit

Melasti Beach is best to visit during the summer months which include- June, July, and August. Usually, Bali has tropical weather throughout the year, but these months are perfect to have a fun beach day on a sunny day.

The food scene at Melasti Beach is also quite happening and one can find some amazing food joint in and around the beach to enjoy some tasty treats.

1. Romeo’s Bar and Grillery:
This place offers different cuisines ranging from Italian, American, European, Asian, Australian, and Indonesian to choose from. Do try out the ‘Pho Noodles’ at the place. The place also features an open bar to sit back and chill with a drink.

Sammy’s is a great place to have a chill time and relax. The place offers authentic Balinese as well as Asian cuisines. So, head over for some yummy treats by the bar.

3. Frankie’s Bar and Grill:
Frankie’s Bar and Grill has a cute feel to it and is an amazing place serving delicious cuisines ranging from Pizzas, Asian, Grills, Indonesian. This is a chill pub which offers some of the best steaks in town.

Tips

One should hire a taxi and a local driver since those people have better knowledge about the place and can easily take you around the meandering hills.
For safety, it is also recommended that one does not stay at the beach after dark since there is poor lighting and it can get unsafe since it is not a very well-frequented beach.

How To Reach Melasti Beach

Melasti Beach is located in the southern part of Bali and can be easily accessed.
The beach is around an hour’s drive from Canggu.
If one is staying in Uluwatu, Melasti beach is just five minutes away from Green Bowl Beach and the Abandoned Plane.
The easiest way to get around is by hiring a private taxi or a scooter through the city.
