Jahangir Mahal is a red sandstone palace that stands within the Agra Fort complex. Built by Akbar in the 17th century, it is a multi-storeyed building with a series of courtyards running from north to south along the eastern fort wall. It is located north of Akbari Mahal, another Mughal-era structure now in ruins that faces the Yamuna river. Jahangir Mahal served as the private residence of Akbar's son and successor, Jahangir, and is one of the first buildings visitors come across on entering through the Amar Singh Gate.
