To secure a seat on the mail buses departing at 8 a.m., travelers need to visit the TRC bus stand counter one day before the journey. These buses, while economical, have an extended travel time, reaching Sonamarg around 1 p.m.

While buses are available, it's important to note that they are privately operated with no fixed schedules. Buses commence their journey when they gather sufficient passengers.

• Start by taking a bus from Srinagar to Ganderbal.
• From Ganderbal, find another bus to reach Kangan.
• Finally, board a bus from Kangan to reach Sonamarg.

While there is a JKSRTC bus network with direct buses to Sonamarg from Srinagar, obtaining information at the bus stand might be challenging. The information point often directs travelers to communicate directly with the drivers for details.

It's crucial to understand that bus services might not provide the same level of comfort and convenience as private vehicles. The total duration of the bus journey can vary depending on factors such as waiting time, traffic conditions, and the number of stops.

Cab Fare and Options:

Private Taxi: Renting a private taxi for the journey will cost around Rs. 2500 - 4,500 for a drop depending on the type of taxi.
Shared Cab: Shared cabs, typically Tata Sumo or Bolero, offer a budget-friendly option. The fare per person ranges between Rs. 150 to Rs. 200.
Chain Taxi from Tangmarg: It is mandatory to get a union taxi also called chain taxis during winters. The chain taxis are available at Tangmarg. Price: INR 2000-2500. Note, it's not mandatory to hire union taxis during summer.

As of now, there is no direct train connectivity from Srinagar to Sonamarg.

Sonamarg does not have its own airport, and the nearest major airport is Sheikh ul-Alam International Airport in Srinagar.
