Vishansar Lake, Sonamarg Overview
A little outside Sonamarg, Vishansar Lake is a high-altitude oligotrophic lake at about 3,710 meters, ringed by green meadows, alpine flowers, and snow-covered peaks. Known as the Lake of Vishnu, it is home to several fish species, including brown trout, and freezes over completely in winter.
The Vishansar Lake completely freezes during the winter while during the summer it is enveloped by lush green meadows. The scenic lake is a major attraction amongst trekkers in the Kashmir Valley.
