Mumbai to Rishikesh

There is no airport in Rishikesh so there is no possibility of a direct flight from Mumbai to Rishikesh. But the nearest airport to Rishikesh is the Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun which is at a distance of 35 kms from Rishikesh. There are a number of flights available on a daily basis from Mumbai to Dehradun. Once you reach Dehradun, there are several State Buses and other public transport options that can take you ahead to Rishikesh.

The only issue is that the flights operating from Mumbai are Stop over or Via flights and most of these have one or more stoppages in between, most often at New Delhi.

Since there are almost no direct flights from Mumbai to Rishikesh, there is another option that you can consider. You can take a direct flight from Mumbai to Delhi that are available on a daily basis and the ticket fares start from INR 2356 and takes a total of around 2 hours. Once you reach Delhi, you can take an overnight bus from Delhi to Rishikesh. There are several buses available on a daily basis that run on the route. The ticket prices start from INR 290 and the journey takes a total of around 7 hours.

Mumbai and Rishikesh are far apart in distance but the journey can be covered conveniently in the train quite easily. Although there are no direct trains from Mumbai to Rishikesh, the next best option is to take a train from Mumbai to Haridwar. Haridwar is just 20 kms from Rishikesh and you can travel from Haridwar to Rishikesh in public transport buses or shared taxis, autos and jeeps that are easily available from town.
