Grades of Rapids in Rishikesh

There are certain parameters fixed separating the rookies from the pros of rafting. These parameters are known as Grades. There are a total of 5 Grades categorised according to the level of rapids and difficulty comprised in each.

Grade 1- Easy drive, with no risk usually preferred for children and people of old age. Black Money, Sweet Sixteen, Good Morning, Body Surfing are some popular examples of Grade 1. 

Grade 2 -  Rocky obstacles with easy manoeuvre required. Club House, Initiation, Double Trouble, Hilton, Terminator, falls in the Grade 2 category. Both Grade 1 and 2 could be enjoyed by Non- Swimmers.

Grade 4- Boat trembling obstacles with accelerated water rapid, not recommended for light hearted people. The Great Wall falls under Grade 4.

Grade 5- Highest on the difficulty standards, only for the professional rafters. Daniel's Dip is the Grade 5 section of Rishikesh Rafting. Along with the Grades, the distance and time to raft increases, depending on which package you choose.

Rafting Stretches

Brahamapuri to Rishikesh
This stretch offers the paramount family time, with acceptability to all age groups. A challenging yet tranquil rafting time which makes it best for beginners and is preferred by most travellers. It covers a length of 9 Kilometres and completes the trip in 1.5 Hours approximately. The cost is INR 450 per person. Brahmpuri to Rishikesh is the Grade I Rapid.

Shivpuri to Rishikesh
With rapid Grades of 2 and 3, this route generates some of the best obstacles for you to counter. This stretch gives some satisfying amounts of thrill and pleasure. It’s a 16 Kilometre stretch which takes 3 to 3.5 Hours to cover. The cost is INR 650 per person.

Marine Drive to Rishikesh
With 14 rapids on the way, this route is electrifying as well as tough. With Grade levels of 2 and 3 and ascended rapid acceleration, you will hardly miss every second of the trip in the post vacation scenario. The stretch is 24 Kilometre long and takes an approx. time of 4.5 hours. The cost is INR 850 per person.

Kaudiyala to Rishikesh
Known in the rafting community as the most challenging ride, this particular route is only meant for the one’s high in rafting skill and low in the panic intake. This route is comprised of level 4 and 5-grade rapids. It’s a 34 Kilometre long stretch which takes about 8 hours of time and lot of courage to complete. It's also the most expensive rafting stretch charging INR 1800 per person.
