Peshwa Udyan, Pune Overview

Peshwe Udyan located right next to Saras Baug and is a popular attraction for locals where they can spend some time relaxing and reviving themselves. It is particularly popular among children, so, most parents living nearby get their families over a picnic on a weekend. But, the place draws both, young and old, who wish to escape into some me-time. The park has an expansive garden with well-maintained lawns, properly paved pathways and tall dense trees that create a beautiful ambience that every visitor can enjoy.

Things to do at Peshwe Udyan, Pune

One can head to Peshwe Udyan for a leisurely walk amidst nature and escape the madness of the world. The park houses a Zoo where a variety of animal species can be seen. After a visit to the zoo, people can head to the gardens again and enjoy some more time admiring the picturesque beauty of the attraction. The flora and fauna of the Udyan draw not just the nature and animal lover but also students of Botany and Zoology who visit for educational purposes. Several school excursions are also arranged at Peshwe Park where they get to see models of Biogas, Hydro-electrical and Solar Energy.

There is a 17th century temple inside the premises of Peshwe Garden which is dedicated to Lord Ganesha. People can visit the shrine and offer prayers to the deity. This temple was built by the Peshwas and ever since, has been an important place of worship for believers. Other than this, the park also has a toy train which is a favourite among children. Very recently, Peshwe Udyan has been recognized as an Adventure Park. There are over 50 kinds of adventure sports for kids like wall climbing, rappelling, rope climbing, high altitude cycling, tower climbing etc.

Peshwe Udyan has some attractions located very close to it. Saras Baug, Chowpatty, Parvati are some of them. People can book a few hours over the weekend to explore all of them completely. The chowpatty, in particular, is a favourite amongst the foodies. There is a variety of local chaats, Punjabi dishes, Chinese, Maharashtrian specialties, South-Indian and fusion foods available at the chowpatty. Street Food Fans, after spending a few hours in the soothing environment at Peshwe Park, often head to the chowpatty to relish some delicious food and beverages.

How To Reach Peshwa Udyan

Peshwe Park Pune is located right next to Saras Baug in Swargate, Pune. It is a popular attraction in the city and, therefore, it is well-connected by the roadways. Public transport (city buses, auto rickshaws, Ola and Uber Rides) make reaching the attraction quite convenient.

Pune is well-connected to other cities by roadways, railways and the airways. So, travellers get to choose between state transport buses, Indian Railways and flights. The closest bus stand is at Swargate (Swargate Bus Depot), located about 1.7 kilometres away from Peshwe Udyan.  From the bus stand, one needs to take the route through Late Namdar Jagannath Shankar Sheth Marg – NH 65 – Balaji Vishwanath Peshwe Path – NH 4 – Chinmaji Appa Path.

Similarly, the closest Railway Station is the Pune Railway Junction which is located about 6 kilometres away and the route that leads to Peshwe Udyan from the railway station goes through – Aga Khan Road – Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Road – NH 65 – Balaji Vishwanath Peshwe Path - NH 4 – Chinmaji Appa Path. The Udyan is located about 370 metres ahead.

From the airport, one would have to head towards Vishrantwadi Lohegaon Road and then get onto Alandi Road – Deccan College Road – B E G Road – New Holkar Bridge – Mula Marg – NH 60/ NH 65 – Old Mumbai Pune Highway - Jangali Maharaj Road (J M Road) – Lakadi Bridge – Lal Bahadur Shastri Road – Sinhagad Road – Chinmaji Appa Path/ NH 4.
