Wat Sri Sunthon, Phuket Overview

The Wt Sri Suthon temple in Phuket is popular for its majestic recline Golden Buddha statue, the best view of which you get before entering the temple through the surrounding trees. The Buddha is believed to be in the Pang Sai Yat posture or the realising Nirvana posture. The temple grounds also have many other interesting, eccentric statues of pink elephants and the legendary Pret or demon ghost.

Wat Sri Sunthon is less crowded and is a perfect spot if you are in a meditative mood. Located on the left-hand side of the Phuket International Airport road, it is easy to spot this temple which is one km away from the ‘Heroine Monument’. The temple has a sermon hall, ordination hall, shrine hall and bell tower. Stairs to the right side of the temple lead you to the reclining Buddha on the rooftop where you can just walk around the giant statue and click a few pics!
