Phan Thiet Tourism

Playing house to an amalgamation of heated sand dunes, lush mountains filled with greenery, golden beaches with blue water and gurgling streams, Phan Thiet is the perfect escape into the beauty of Mother Nature.

Phan Thiet is the best holiday location for those who connect with Nature. But, it also has its fair share of History and Culture to engage those who are passionate about it. The spectacular Red Sand Dunes and White Sand dunes are perfect locations to go Quad biking or Sand Sledding, grab a bite from a local food stall or just marvel at the pure and smooth texture and distinct appearance of the dunes. The Fairy Stream is an embodiment of Phan Thiet, from where you can see the sand dunes, the lush rainforests and the flowing stream. You can even wade through the stream. The Mui Ne Beach is the perfect place to relax, go kite-surfing, surfing or bathe in the ocean. The surrounding fishing village will give you great information about the local lives of fishermen who live by the coast. The prince’s Castle and Po Shanu Cham towers not only offer an insight into the history of the region but also offer breathtaking views of the entire city. The Ta Cu Mountain and the Pagoda on top houses some well-cut statues of the Buddha. Phan Thiet also has great seafood for the food enthusiasts.

More on Phan Thiet

Phan Thiet is one of Vietnam’s oldest cities, older than even Nha Trang and Phan Rang. The oldest record is the city belonging to the ancient kingdom of Champa. It later merged into the Dai Viet kingdom. In 1697, Phan Thiet was recognized as an administrative area of its own. During the period of 1773-1801 AD, Phan Thiet was the centre for a fierce battle between the Nguyen Dynasty and the Tay Son Dynasty.

Phan Thiet’s nightlife has significantly evolved over the years. Some of the best places to visit at night include – Paris Night Club Bar (dance club with high energy music), The Las Vegas Beer Club (disco club with minimal seating), MTV Huyen Trang Club (club located on the river and sometimes hosts dance parties and fashion shows), Joe’s Café (eclectic furniture and live music), Twins Coffee and Lounge (beach disco bar), Lineup Beach Bar (upscale Russian owned Bar) and Dragon Beach Lounge and Club (One indoor disco and one outdoor with entirely different DJs and Bars).

Phan Thiet does not specifically cater to tourists and so you will not find many souvenir shops. The LOTTE Supermarket and the Coop market are two places where you can buy essentials (if necessary). But apart from that, there are not really any places to shop.

Phan Thiet is the only place in Vietnam where you can fly hot air balloons. Most of the flights include flights over the white sand dunes or the red sand dunes, but in case of sandstorms the flights take place over the city. A hot air balloon ride is the best way to observe the dunes or the city as it offers an uninhibited view of the area. A hot air balloon ride is undoubtedly the most special way to celebrate a date or a romantic holiday and will definitely be the highlight of your vacation.

Apart from the Cham People, the religion followed here is largely similar to that followed throughout Vietnam.

Phan Thiet is popular for the Cham Culture, where the people worship the Marine God of Fishing Villages. Folk Songs play a central role in their culture. Phan Thiet also has a number of Chinese people and these people pray at the Ong Temple.

The language most commonly spoken is Vietnamese.

Phan Thiet's Traditional festivals include the Boat Racing Festival in Ca Ty River, Nghinh Ong Festival, and Thay Thim Festival. The Boat Racing festival is held in celebration of the New Year, on the second day of the year. Nghinh Ong festival is held by the Chinese people, once every two years. This festival is celebrated in commemoration of the deity Quan Thanh De Quan. During this festival, they pray for peace, happiness and a wealthy life. Thay Thim festival takes place in the ninth lunar month and celebrates the unique natural beauty of Phan Thiet.

Phan Thiet has an array of dishes that can leave your mouth watering. Phan Thiet Beach City's best food includes - Banh trang nuong mam ruoc (Rice paper grilled with shrimp sauce and rolled with boiled eggs, roast pork, vegetables and butter inside), Banh Mi Cho (A hot loaf of bread served only between 7:00 PM and 12:00 AM along with a side of fried rolls, sausage, meat or boiled eggs), Lau ca (Phan Thiet is famous for the cobia fish hotpot), Rang Muc (Bakes, Steamed, stir-fried or fried squid’s teeth served with pickles and laksa leaves), Banh Can (Rice cakes served with fish sauce) and Quang Noodles cooked with Duck meat. Phan Thiet also has numerous 'seafood pubs' where fresh seafood is grilled and served.
