Nongpoh, located 60 Kms from Guwahati in Assam and 51 Kms from Shillong is a petite town to be found to the North of the East Khasi Hills. Situated very close to the gorgeous Brahmaputra plains, this location is quite a favourite as a stopover before reaching Shillong from Guwahati.

Nongpoh doesn't have an airport but can be accessed through road, if you fly down to Guwahati Airport which is at a distance of nearly 49 km. Guwahati airport is well connected with other major cities of our country and abroad. From Guwahati, you can easily reach to this place by hiring a cab or taking a bus, as it is located on NH 40. As an alternative, you can also get down at Shillong, and from Shillong, you can go to Nongpoh by road. It is a 50 km journey from there on.

How to reach Nongpoh by train

As Nongpoh is situated on a very hilly and treacherous terrain, there are no direct trains to Nongpoh. However, you can certainly get down at Guwahati station and reach Nongpoh via road.

- You need not carry extra food supplies with you, because this place is relatively less remote and has food joints at short distances.
- The weather is quite pleasant and not very cold, though wo (Read More)olen clothes will prove to be handy.
- The locals are very co-operative and understand English so traversing in the city wouldn't be much of an issue.
